Scotland, a land of heather and bagpipes was not always as peaceful. Many aspects of the Reformation took place in Scotland, leading ultimately to the founding of the Church of Scotland and all Presbyterian churches worldwide. This tour is designed to introduce you to the people and places that made this happen. The tour can be designed for your own specific needs, such as, more on Wishart, The Covenanters and opportunities for services with local communities.




Day 1 – Edinburgh

Meet your specialist Scottish tour manager on arrival at Edinburgh airport and transfer to Edinburgh in your private motor coach. Panoramic sightseeing tour on arrival to catch your first glimpses of Edinburgh Castle, The Royal Mile and the New Town. Overnight Edinburgh


Day 2 – Edinburgh

A full day guided tour of the historic centre of the city. Begin with a guided visit inside Edinburgh Castle and continue down The Royal Mile to visit St Giles Cathedral, see The Heart of Midlothian and the exquisite Thistle Chapel and the nearby site of Knox's grave. This visit is often combined with a lunchtime service. Continue to the nearby Scottish Writers Museum which is in a building that was perhaps the Edinburgh home of John Knox. Continue in to The Grassmarket, Magdalen Chapel and the Covenanters Prison. Overnight Edinburgh


Day 3 – Haddington & St. Andrews

After breakfast we travel south east of the city to explore the small town of Haddington, which was the birthplace of Knox. Our journey north now takes us over The Firth of Forth and into the ancient Kingdom of Fife and to the city of St Andrews. Here we visit the Castle and The Cathedral. The ruins of the cathedral (the largest in Scotland) was the religious capital of Scotland until the Scottish Reformation. See the martyr's memorial to Wishart and Hamilton and see the church where Knox first preached in public. Traveling west we overnight in Perth

Day 4 – Lindisfarne and The Borders

Full day excursion down the coast and over the the tidal island of Lindisfarne to enjoy the tranquility of the island. Pause to see sections of Roman Hadrians Wall before traveling through stunning and classic Borders scenery back to Edinburgh via Selkirk. Overnight Edinburgh


Day 5 – Perth & Stirling Castle

Today begins with a visit to St John's Kirk in Perth, a key place in the life of John Knox and beautiful building with a lamp of faith that has burned for 800 years. Passing through the agricultural central belt of Scotland we arrive in the city of Stirling to tour the castle and for views of The Wallace Monument. Overnight Perth


Day 6 – Breadalbane

Full day guided tour of the Southern Highlands. Pause to enjoy the lovely town of Pitlochry and in to the mountains to enjoy a guided tour of Blair Castle. Follow beneath the slopes of Ben Lawers and the shores of Loch Tay to the isolated settlement of Killin and the well located Breadalbane Folklore Centre. Pass through Glen Ogle and by Loch Earn to Crieff to visit The Famous Grouse Whisky Experience before returning to Perth Overnight Perth


Day 7 – Glasgow

Day excursion in to Glasgow, the largest city in Scotland that has been rejuvenated so much in recent times. Admission included to The Kelvingrove Museum, St Mungo's Cathedral, the nearby Provands Lordship and Museum of Religious Life. Also in this area is a stunning memorial to John Knox. Lunch today is included and will be in The Willow Tea Rooms, designed by Charles Rennie Mackintosh. Overnight Glasgow


Day 8 – Departure

Departure airport transfer.
