SOME OF THE TOUR’S SIGHTS.

Day 1 — Zurich Arrival

On arrival meet with your professional tour guide before enjoying a panoramic city tour. Switzerland's largest city is well known as the country's economic and cultural hub and one of Europe's main financial and industrial capitals, it's easy to forget that it's also a delightful and fascinating place for tourists. Its many attractions include dozens of museums, a well-preserved old town filled with medieval and Renaissance buildings, and enough art - both in and out of museums - to keep art-lovers happy for a week. Zurich's tradition of liberal thinking and active intellectual life attracted leading figures that included Georg Büchner, Vladimir Lenin, James Joyce, C. G. Jung, and Thomas Mann, and this tradition continues into modern times. Although it buzzes with business activity, Zürich is one of the finest Swiss towns to visit and is perfectly arranged for sightseeing. Overnight stay in Lucerne.

Day 2 —  Lucerne and Mt Pilatus

Begin the day with a short coach ride to Kriens, where you take the panoramic gondolas to Fräkmüntegg. Then hop aboard the aerial cableway "Dragon Ride" and enjoy the jaw dropping views out of the panoramic windows, especially designed to give the feeling of flying. Once at the top of Mt Pilatus (2132 m), venture down the Dragon's Path or go for short hike to the summit. Later you can relax on the panorama terrace admiring magnificent views over the surrounding mountains of the Swiss Alps and the blue lakes in the valleys below. Different restaurants are available for lunch. The highlight of this day is probably the thrilling descent on the world's steepest cogwheel railway (48% gradient) down to Alpnachstad. Here you board the boat for a lovely 1-hour cruise on the beautiful Lake of the Four Cantons and enjoy the spectacular landscape from an entirely different angle. The excursion ends at the pier in Lucerne. Your unique journey continues with a chance to walk on the famous Chapel Bridge and to visit the symbolic Lion Monument. Many groups chose to have a special "fondue" dinner this evening.
Overnight stay in Lucerne.

Day 3 — Vaduz, Liechtenstein - Davos

This morning travel along verdant valleys, along the shores of The Zurichsee, Obersee and Walensee to reach little Liechtenstein snuggled betwen Switzerland and Austria. this is one of thr world's tiniest (only 25kms long) and richest countries and as a mountain principality is pure fairy-tale stuff and its capital Vaduz.  The small town is great to wander in and many people by the unique postage stamps. Fine views of the 12th century castle can be had. It is the private home of the Princely Family of Liechtenstein. Continue south passed over 10 peaks that are in excess of 2500 meters(8,500 feet) to the town of Davos. This area is popular with European Royalty and is the largest and highest resort in The Alps.
 Overnight stay in Davos.

Day 4 — Bernina Express

After breakfast board the Bernina Express Railway and enjoy a stunning journey through the mountains to Italy. The journey takes a series of loops and tunnels and this combined with mountains, glaciers, lakes and gorges makes this one of the great train journeys of the world. The express ends at the Italian town of Tirano where you can explore before boarding the motor coach back to Davos by road to get a fresh perspective of the amazing scenery en route. Overnight stay in Davos.

Day 5 — St Moritz - Innsbruck

Another day and more stunning mountain scenery with a first stop in St Moritz. St. Moritz is a luxury alpine resort town in Switzerland’s Engadin valley. It has hosted the Winter Olympics twice, has the Cresta Run, a world-championship bobsled run made of natural ice, and an outdoor Olympic ice rink. Its frozen lake hosts polo, cricket and even horse racing on ice.   This afternoon cross the mountain pass border in to Austria to Innsbruck, an internationally renowned winter sports centre; it hosted the 1964 and 1976 Winter Olympics as well as the 1984 and 1988 Winter Paralympics. Overnight Innsbruck.

Day 6 — Innsbruck - Swarovski Crystal World

After breakfast, in the company of a local guide take a walking tour of the old city and the small medieval lanes. Situated at the heart of the Old Town district, the Golden Roof is the landmark of Innsbruck – the late Gothic oriel with loggia was built for Emperor Maximilian I and is adorned with 2,657 fire-gilt copper tiles. Included this afternoon is an excursion to the nearby Swarovski Crystal Worlds. This beloved attraction was opened in 1995 to celebrate 100 years of the company's founding. A fascinating place with a garden and what is known as The Giant is actually the heart of the historical collection which is still very active today. Overnight stay in Innsbruck.

Day 7 — Neuschwanstein Castle - Lake Constance (Bodensee)

Leaving The Austrian Alps cross the border and enter Bavaria in Germany. A highlight of this journey for many is the next stop at Neuschwanstein Castle. A 19th Century Romanesque castle commissioned by Ludwig II as retreat in honour of Richard Wagner and well known as the castle that inspired Walt Disney to create The Sleeping Beauty Castle in Disneyland. A scenic journey brings us to Lake Constance, known as Bodensee in German; the lake borders Germany, Austria and Switzerland and is ringed by resort towns, our favourite perhaps being the small island town of Lindau. Overnight stay on Lake Constance.

Day 8 - Lake Constance (Bodensee)

After breakfast enjoy a leisurely cruise on the lake. Several options are available here so please discuss with us. A popular one is staying on the German side and including a visit to the Zeppelin museum in Friedrichshafen or crossing by water back in to Switzerland and the town of Rorschach.
