Film, TV and Books on Location

Film, TV and Books on Location

Over the years we have created several tours that have been of interest to those interested in the incredible British locations that have been chosen by worldwide film directors. With each new blockbuster we create new bespoke itineraries. Successes include locations to do with the life and various film and TV adaptations of the works of classic writers such as Jane Austen, William Shakespeare, Agatha Christie and Charles Dickens and TV shows and films such as Downton Abbey, Heartbeat, Doc Martin and Harry Potter. The itinerary below is, like all of the itineraries on this website just a sample of what we have operated and is intended to show the breadth of what is possible.

SAMPLE DAILY ITINERARY BELOW

Whilst in Cambridge visit the University of Cambridge (made up of 31 colleges), Kings College is always a favourite and many will know Trinity College as the setting of Chariots of Fire. Overnight stay in Cambridge.

Day 5 — Oxford and Banbury

Cross country today and drive past Mentmore Towers near Aylesbury in Buckinghamshire, the home of Batman in Batman Begins. Stop in Oxford to see where this city has been used - Inspector Morse, Midsomer Murders (Barnaby), Northern Lights, several Harry Potter films and even The Italian Job and Saving Private Ryan, before continuing to Banbury for a visit to Broughton Castle, the home of Lord and Lady Saye and Sele. Broughton Castle has been featured in many films including the Madness of King George, Lady Jane, Three Men and a Little Lady and Shakespeare in Love - take a walk around Viola's formal garden. Overnight  stay in Oxfordshire.

Day 6 — Stratford-upon-Avon

This morning we visit Shakespeare's Birthplace and Anne Hathaway's Cottage in beautiful Stratford-upon-Avon. Take some time out to discover Stratford at leisure and visit the shops before heading through the scenic Cotswolds "Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty"  to explore small towns and villages such as Moreton-in-Marsh and Bourton-on-the-Water. This region is so quintessentially English it has been used extensively in TV and Film. Overnight stay in Bath.

Day 7 — Wiltshire

Wiltshire has some wonderful locations used in TV, Hollywood and even Bollywood productions. Visit the town of Corsham featured in The Mayor of Casterbridge, the BBC production of Wives and Daughters and see Corsham Court where The Remains of the Day was filmed. The nearby historic National Trust-owned village of Lacock which dates from the 13th century, has many limewashed and half-timbered and stone houses and acts as location for period dramas such as Pride and Prejudice, Moll Flanders and Emma. Lacock and its Abbey is a must for Harry Potter fans where many scenes from The Philosophers Stone and Chambers of Secrets were filmed. Poldark and naturally lots of Jane Austen films are set in Bath. Overnight stay in Bath

Arrive in London in time to do some last minute shopping in London's West End. Overnight stay in London.
